Evaluation of effectiveness of Constructive Microbes against human herpesvirus type 1 (HSV1)
The objective of this study was to evaluate the virus-inactivating properties of the Constructive Microbes against human herpesvirus type 1 using a quantitative suspension assay according to N- EN 14476.
According to the standard, a disinfectant is considered virucidal if, after the recommended exposure time, the virus titer is reduced by at least 4 log10 (inactivation ≥ 99. 99%). Constructive Microbes were tested against herpesvirus 1, at a concentration of 5%. The exposure time was 60 minutes. After this time, a titer reduction = 4 log10 was determined. Therefore, the formulation at this concentration can be considered as a disinfectant against human herpesvirus 1.
Table 1. Testing the virucidal properties of Constructive Microbes 5% against herpesvirus 1.
n.d. = not done
0 = no virus present
t = cytotoxicity
1-4 = virus present (degree of CPE in 8 cell culture units)
